The Collections Volunteer supports the care, management, and preservation of Torfaen Museum’s collections. Working closely with the curatorial staff, volunteers will assist with the handling and care of historic objects, helping to ensure they are stored, maintained, and monitored to appropriate museum standards.
Key Responsibilities:
•Working alongside curatorial staff to support the care of the museum’s collections
•Assisting with the safe storage, cleaning, and basic conservation of objects
•Helping to move objects safely, following museum handling procedures Monitoring and reporting on environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity
•Assisting with collections audits, checks, and documentation where appropriate
•Maintaining clean, organised, and safe collections storage areas
•Following all handling, health, and safety guidelines at all times
