The Front of House & Coffee Shop Volunteer plays a key role in creating a welcoming, informative, and enjoyable experience for all visitors to Torfaen Museum. This role combines customer service at reception and the museum shop with supporting the day-to-day operation of the museum coffee shop. Volunteers help visitors feel welcome, informed, and well looked after while supporting the smooth running of museum services.
Key Responsibilities:
•Welcoming visitors to the museum and acting as a friendly first point of contact
•Selling and recording admission tickets and shop items, including handling cash and card payments
•Providing information about the Museum, its services, exhibitions, events, and the local area
•Taking bookings for workshops and events and helping to manage the museum diary
•Answering and responding to telephone calls and visitor enquiries
•Assisting in keeping the reception, shop, and public areas clean, tidy, and well-presented
•Greeting and serving customers in the coffee shop
•Preparing and serving hot and cold drinks and light refreshments Ensuring hygiene, health, and safety regulations are followed at all times
•Helping with stock management and replenishment
•Contributing ideas for new products or refreshments on offer
•Working as part of a team to provide excellent customer service across the Museum
